Welcome back to our students for Term 3.  We are very excited at Pia school because we will begin our transition into our new curriculum in Week 3.

The school is implementing a systematic intervention with both the junior and senior classes.  These classes will be underpinned by a manageable number of  short and long term strategies.  This means classes will have similar structures, however, different content will focus on individuals’ needs.  Further,  both classes will be structured  in English using Dianne Rigg’s Promoting Literacy Development.  The Senior room will be using Sigh-Post Maths and Mentals.   

Assessment is the core of all planning and we have implemented a comprehensive assessment schedule using ACER assessment instruments as well as in-class formative assessment methods with a focus on operations as well as three in-class maths assessments aligned with the W.A. Curriculum.  Data analysis and evaluation of assessments will feedback into our classroom instruction.

So far we are on track with our intervention curriculum strategy.  Adjustments will be made where required to meet student needs.

I am pleased to introduce to our community Ms Ashleigh Burns who will be our Senior Room teacher for this Term.  Ashleigh brings a wealth of knowledge and  a broad skill–set to assist our students.  Thank-you Ashleigh, everyone welcomes you to our school.

On Monday the 22^nd of July staff attended Allendale Primary school .  The purpose was to attend professional development sessions where teachers could bring back to school knowledge and skills to assist our students’ learning.  Being remote often precludes us from professional development opportunities, however, I am satisfied all staff gained considerable in-sights to add to their teacher knowledge-base.
