With the challenging unknowns that Covid brings it, classrooms have been relatively quiet in school over the last few weeks. Thankyou to those parents and carers who continue to send their children to school. I would like to reassure families that school is doing everything to keep safe. We have extra cleaning each day, high school students and adults are all wearing masks, and no one can come into classrooms.
This Wednesday the Covid Vaccination team came out to community and started the 5-12 year old covid vaccinations and boosters for many community members. All our students were extremely brave and lined up for their turn.
Student attendance has been very low since the commencement of the year. It is very important that families send their children to school every day and on time.
As indicated, over 72% of our students are not attending school - a reminder that if you will be in another town for a period of time we can arrange a Section 24 so that your children can still attend school.
Did you know that if a child misses one day a week for their school life, they will have missed over a year of schooling!
For those children that have been coming to school we have been having a great time- Miss Marika held an old fashioned tea party, Miss Susan and Mr Brad have been enjoying a variety of morning fitness activities each day, and Miss Kylie has recommenced her weekly Wadjarri lessons.
The senior girls and boys have been making big plans for their Thursday clubs, and they have started to go out and explore a variety of personal interests.
As part of our whole school writing programme,’’ Talk for Writing’’ lessons have commenced, and this week the junior students loved working in Mr Sean’s senior class to learn about “Little Charlie”. Our youngest students practiced their writing skills retelling the introduction to the story in their own words.
