Here we are at the end of week 9 with the Christmas holiday break just around the corner.
Thank you to our families who hve supported their children in coming to school regularly throughout the term. The last day of school for students is Thursday 16 December and we welcome them back to school on Monday 1 Febraury 2022.
Teachers will return to work on Thursday 27 January 2022 but will participate in 2 days of professional learning in preparation of the school year.
Some exciting news! Students will have an opportunity to participate in a major rugby union event very early in term 1, week one in fact, where they will attend a clinic in Mullewa followed by further clinics in Geraldton. More information will follow - students who are enrolled and attending Pia Wadjarri RCS at the time of the excursion will be invited to participate.
Even more exciting news - further to the school visit from Luc Doucet from Curtin University earlier this year, students are invited to participate in some scientific experiments at the University in Perth in week 3 of term 1. Stay tuned for more information!
We have had some great activities and visiting groups come to Pia Wadjarri over the term. The Teach, Learn, Grow team [commonly referred to as TLG] were our latest visitors and before them we had FairGame team come and work in classes with our students.
The Murdoch University Vet School came and looked after our pets and shared their knowledge with our students.
We had our swimming camp in Geraldton, our students have been learning cricket, and Mr B has introduced PMP [Perceptual Motor Program] for our youngest students.
Students have also really enjoyed our morning fitness and emotional well-being sessions where they have learned to be better cricketers and wonderful gymnasts.
Next Tuesday 14 December we will be having our End of Year Assembly followed by a light lunch. All families are welcome to attend the assembly at 11am where reports and awards will be handed out to students. Parents and carers are also invited to visit the classrooms to see your childs work and speak with their teacher about their progress throughout the year. We look forward to seeing you all there.
The School Council has been working hard on our plans for the schools 20th anniversary celebrations to be held 8 April 2022. A School council has a very important role of leading and guiding the direction of the school. All families in our community are welcome to come and have their say at our meetings that are held each term.
McDonalds Comes to Pia
With the grand opening of McDonalds drive-thru, Trinity was kept very busy taking orders and keeping up with filling those orders. We ran out of Sundaes!
Students designed and, with support of Melissa and Miss Marika, built their unique cars to drive thru and purchase their Macca’s.
Mr. B judged the colouring competition.
Winner (Trinity) received $100, 2nd place went to Matchum who received $50 and 3rd prize went to Dominic who won $20.
Staff and students who worked with Nicole (artist in residence in term 3) submitted some art work into the MidWest Art competition. Last weekend we were informed that they had won first prize!! The prize money is for both the community and the school and we are thinking of options as to how best to share the benefits of the prize money. Congratulations everyone!
Please come and see Kylie for assistance to apply for funding for student uniform purchases.
