Dear Parents, Carers and Community members.
Week 6 of term 4 already! The year is racing away from us. We have achieved many great things in school this year, and there is more to come as we wind up toward the end of year celebrations.
Thankyou to staff and families for supporting our students to go on our Geraldton swim camp. Everyone had a great time, the students loved going swimming every day, and we also managed to fit in some great cultural experiences whilst we were in town.
This Friday 19/11/21 there is no school for students. Staff of Pia School will all be attending professional development in Geraldton on that day. School will resume on Monday 22/11/21.
Congratulations to our senior students who organised and ran the school assembly this week. They spoke confidently and ran the proceedings very professionally. Well done.
Congratulations to all the ‘Barndi Award’ winners- keep up the fabulous work.
This week we have the “Fair Games” team visiting our school. The guys from the team have been working with our students to improve their understanding of healthy eating and exercise and how to keep our bodies in good physical shape. Thank you to them for working with our students as well as working with Mr Bradley in our school garden creating more wicking beds.
On that note I would like to mention the amazing amount of work that Mr Bradley, Mr Sean and Miss Lulu have put into creating our new shade house vegetable gardens and orchard. When you are next in our school take a look at how many apples we already have on our fruit trees!
Teachers are currently busy conducting student assessments in preparation for the writing of their reports. Student reports will be distributed to families at our end of year celebration on Wednesday 15/12/21. Keep that special date free so that you can come and celebrate your child’s achievements with them.
Next year in 2022 our school here in Pia will be celebrating its 20th Year. Our AIEOs Mr Bradley and Miss Kylie and elder Lenny Merry are leading a committee to hold a community celebration and school reunion on Friday 8/4/22. If you have any memorabilia, photos or stories you would like to share with others, please feel welcome to share them with Mr Bradley, Miss Kylie or myself so that we can collate them for display at the event to be held on Friday 8/4/21.
Our School Council has been re- established in 2021 and Ms Julie Ryan is the elected Council Chairperson. All community members are welcome to attend meetings that are to be held each term. Our next meeting will be in week 9 of term 4.
School newsletters will be distributed each fortnight during home visits with our AIEO’s and Principal.
Thankyou to our families for continuing to support your children in coming to school regularly. It is very important that students maximise their learning opportunities by coming to school everyday.
Have a great week everyone
Susan Trigwell
Principal
